When to apply GC for my Mother

My Mom came to US last year (May 2009) and stayed for 6months. She is coming now again and I am planning to apply for GC. Can I apply as soon as she is here or is it better to wait for soemtime?

I was told by an attorney to wait at least 2 months before I could apply for GC for my parent. Else, it would look like as though you were already planning to apply for permanent residency when she just came on visitor visa. All the best.
