GC for Mother living in India

I am a US Citizen and I would like my Mother to immigrate to the US and live with me. She is currently working and wants to move only after retirement in 2 years.

Just wondering how long it usually takes for a family based immigration.
If it takes more than 2 years, I want to start the process now. On the other hand if it's a quicker process, i would rather wait for a year-year and a half and start the process.

Can anyone tell me what's the average time it will take for this process?

i cant say how it is for india, but my wife a us citizen filed II130 for her mom 11/19/2009

approved uscis 02/10/2010

recieved nvc 02/12/2010

completed nvc 04/07/2010

interview overseas consulated date recieved 04/12/2010 , interview is 05/11/2010

Wait for 1.5 years and then file.

It is like 6 to 8 months process.
