Concurrent Filing Visitor

Can anyone explain to me the technicalities of concurrent filing for GC while on a visitor visa? Exactly what needs to be done BEFORE the visitor visa expires? Is it ok just to apply the I-130/I-485 before the visa expires. Typically, how much time should I keep (on the I-94 stamp) to ensure I can get done whats needed?
My son is sponsoring my GC - he is a citizen. I have been here on a tourist visa for 4 months now - so I have 2 months left.
What happens if I get rejected? Can I comeback next year and retry?

You should file it right away before the I-94 expires.

If your I-130 gets rejected, it really depends upon why it was rejected. Please note that, unlike visitors visa, I-130 does not get rejected randomly.
