Dear all, I wanted to know if there are any confirmed alternate documentation sources in lieu of a "birth certificate" to establish a name of the mother for the petitioner in filing an I-130, etc. Kindly respond with your personal experiences and many thanks in advance.

The department of state has a website that goes through what they accept as alternative documents. Although it’s not the USCIS, I think it’s generally a good place to take a look. Which country is your parent from and where were you born?Canadian on F-1 married to USC (SSM)

You can get a new birth certificate, if the health department allows that. Also, I've tried using "affidavits" from credible sources to prove someone's birth because they didn't have a birth certificate. It's one method that the USCIS allows. Check the website and you'll find plenty of second sources.--Good luck--
Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
