  • Marriage certificate

I am filing for my parents. my dad name is mohanlal in passport and spouse name is Mina Mohanlal but my mom’s name and spouse name is Mina mohanbhai in her passport, which seems to be Ok, but they don’t have marriage certificate. Considering name different in passport, Do you think only Marriage affidavit will be ok?
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That depends on how long ago they were married. As per travel . state . gov website's reciprocity table, if they were married generally after the 1970s (I believe, please double check) then they expect you to have a marriage certificate. If married before, they excuse the requirement. But, yes, if you cannot produce a marriage certificate, then you will have to get a letter of "no record" or something like that from the local ministry.
    --Good luck--
Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
