My mother was supposed to fly from India this week, but her flight was cancelled because of the lockdown. End of April is when she reaches the 6-month outside of the country time period. Assuming the lockdown is lifted what can we do, so she can either stay in India for longer period or come back in US? Any documentations needs to be filled?

Is she an LPR? she can stay longer than 6 months but should be ideally less than 12 months.--Good luck--

I am also in the same situation as the OP. What is an LPR? My mother's interview was done at Mumbai consulate (NVC) and got the approval in December. Can she stay in India longer than six months? Does she have to do the medical one more time and appear for another interview?Comment

LPR = Legal Permanent Resident or Green Card holder. I haven't read any official position on those approved with an immigrant visa and need to travel to the USA before it expires.
You may need to call the embassy or contact them by phone/email for an official answer on your case.Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
