more than one application for green card

Hi,
Currently i am on F1 status and my wife has on F2 Status (My dependent ) and my wife's sister has citizen in USA. I have one question regarding this after i complite my graduation, i file for H1B visa and my wife get H4 visa and in future if i file application for green card for me and my wife on employment base and right now my wife's sister file application for green card for me and my wife. Is it possible or not and can i file multiple application for green card like above two way or not. Because i have no idea about this and where can i contact for this information.

Yes, you can have multiple applications pending at the same time.

What do you mean by pending here? Is that something we can keep multiple application to the particular stage? Do we require to withdraw one of the application after it passes some stage?

Can we just file multiple application and wait until we get approval on any application? Can we withdraw any of application after getting one approved?
