  • Father's GC I-130 - Widower | No Marriage Certificate

Hi, all - I am filing I 130 for my dad and don't have the marriage certificate of my parents. My mom passed away 1 year ago. So, I have my mom's death certificate (with my dad's name as husband's name) but I do not have the marriage certificate of my Mom and Dad. Does anyone know if marriage certificate is mandatory for father's Green Card? My parents were married in 1985 and since my mom passed away, I am not even sure if my dad can obtain the marriage certificate. Are there any secondary evidence documents such as affidavits, my school certificates with his name enough to prove father-child relationship? Please advise.

    Thank you.

Your father is no longer married and therefore, the death certificate will suffice.
You do need to enter the date of her death (where is says marraige ended on"
