  • My sister's birth certificate doesn't have her baptism name

I'm a naturalized U.S. citizenship. I applied for a Green Card for my sister.

When my sister was born she only got two names (the first and surname). In East Africa it's normal to take on an additional (usually English) name when one gets baptized. When this happens, the baptism name becomes the first name, the African first name becomes the middle name, but the African surname remains the surname.

Consequently, about 10 years after her birth, my sister got baptized. So now she has an additional name. However, her national ID and passport have her additional name. But the birth certificate, which I used to file the I-130, does not have her baptism name. USCIS wants evidence that the person on the birth certificate and the person on the I-130 is the same person.

She no longer has a baptism card from the church where she got baptized (this was like 48 years ago).

Has anyone ever had this problem? If so, how did you solve it? I'll really appreciate any feedback. I have till September to submit the evidence.
