Current Annual Income or Adjust Income on Form 1040 for I-864?

Im trying to apply for green card through marriage.
my husband is citizen.
and im confused about the annual income on I-864.
which annual income is the one USCIS consider above the minimum required or not.... Current Annual Income based on our current monthly salaries or income on 2009 Form 1040?

According to our pay stubs this year, our monthly salaries*12 will be much above the minimum required.

But according to our 2009 From 1040, the adjust gross income is below the minimum because I coudln't work for few months until getting my H1b and my husband turned to part time work to finish his college.
But 2008's & 2007's are all above the minimum.

Under this situation, should I explain why our income last year is below minimum on additional sheet or it doesn't matter?

You should be looking at the current annual income from 1040. (think its the item 23 or 22 on 1040).
You can show cash at bank ..or other means of satisfying the i864p requirements..check with your accountant who can interpret 1040 for you.
If you still feel its below the level of i864p then you may pull in a joint sponsor ...who can be either a relative or a close freind.
