Hello All,
I have a some questions regarding applying for GC for parent (father) by USC. I was planning to use a lawyer to get this process going but due to COVID-19 and its financial impact, we are planning to file this ourselves. I have consulted with a couple lawyers and it seems that the new Form I 944 (Declaration of self-sufficiency) has added more work for the lawyers and their rates have gone up (one adding an extra $1500 for just that application). Could not get the lawyers to answer these two questions unless I hired them (they do have to make their money).
My Dad is in the US - and I am planning to apply for his GC, concurrently filing I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-944 and I-864* - I am US Citizen turning 21 years in January 2021.
I have about 18 days to file and now just starting putting all this information together. Any advice, suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

- I do not live with him but he is planning move to another State at the end of this year (in a few days) - Currently, he is not certain where he will be staying (permanent address), the plan was to use a UPS Address to apply and receive mail. Are there any drawbacks in processing the application using a UPS address? He does not want to use the current address (wont be able to receive mail) then have to move the paperwork to the new state because that could affect how long it takes to transfer the file and that might extend his wait/processing time.
- The second question is about I 864 - Affidavit of Support. I am currently in college and working, I earn slightly above the recommended USCIS poverty guidelines. He might be able to qualify for exemption for this form because he has qualified/earned credit for SSA 40 qualified quarters according to the instructions. My question is how do I show on his application that he has qualified for that exemption (Social Security website does not have a clear guide on how to do that) or should I go ahead and file that form with supporting documentation and include his SSA Statement?
