GC interview for mother

My mother's GC interview is scheduled for Aug 18th 2010. On the interview appointment letter, one of the documents required at the appointment are birth certificates of both her children (ie. me and my brother). Cld anyone please tell me if what they need is the original certificate or a copy? Since my brother lives in India, I wld have to make the proper arrangements to get these on time. Thankyou so v.v. much.
