Greencard hasn't arrived in mail. Am I eligible to start work?

Hello,

I am outside the U.S. and have received my passport with the green card VISA I need to enter the U.S. The green card will be sent to my husbands address in the U.S. as it was a marriage based green card. Does anyone know if the green card will arrive 30-90 days from it being approved or from it being approved and me entering the U.S. on the green card visa? Also, if I'm still waiting for the official green card after I enter the U.S. on the green card visa, am I able to work? What documentation can I provide to an employer that proves I'm able to work?

What you have is an immigrant visa. You are not a US permanent resident (i.e. green card holder) until you enter the US with that immigrant visa. The instant you are allowed to enter the US on that immigrant visa, you are a US permanent resident with all the rights including the ability to live, work, travel, etc. Only after you enter will the green card be sent to you. The immigrant visa, upon entry, turns into an I-551, which is proof of your permanent resident status just like a green card, for 1 year. That immigrant-visa-turned-I-551 is a List A document for the I-9 and is enough documentation for you to start work.
