Green Card / Visa question

Hi,

I am originally from Brazil and just got married to my husband (an American) last weekend. We are planning a trip to Brazil in October. I would like to get my green card and change my name to take my husband's last name. I already have my flight tickets to Brazil though and didn't know if I should wait to apply for a green card and change my name until after we return since my flight tickets and passport show my maiden name.

I have lived in the US for several years and my Visa expires in January of 2011. Please let me know if I can apply for a green card and change my name legally without changing my passport until after I return to the US from Brazil in October.

It would be best to apply for name change and green card after you return from your trip.
