How long do I need to wait for applying GC for my mom who entered United States on Visitor visa?

Hi,
There is no wait time for this.. But as you mentioned your mother entered US on B1 visa, Her intention should not to get Green card when she came to USA.. After she reaches USA, then she can decide to file Immigrant petition..
If this is the case, you can file change of status. First you will need to file I-130 petition then you can file I-485.

trying to get some clarification here, my mom is in the same situation as nyztom described, so if I want to start the green card application for my mom, does she need to leave the country first?
See below info i found online, not sure what they mean by "lawfully", my mom used her tourist visa while entering to USA and her passport has the corresponding stamp.
