  • Question about Family based Greeen Cards

    Hello,

Thanks for your wonderful website. Your service is invaluable.

I had a couple of questions that I wanted to ask you.

    1) I am here on a H1 visa in the US for the last 4.5 years. I have my I-140 approved in the GC process.
Can I right away add / sponsor my parents who are in India to the Family GC process?

If yes, what should I actually do to complete that process?

    2) I missed the bus by not filing 485 (Change of the status), during the summer rush of 2007 when the dates for all categories were made current.
Subsequently I got my labor and 140 appproved in 2007 september itself.
What have I actually lost by not utilizing the current dates in 2007.

Also when again is a chance of the dates being made current.

    Thanks much

    1. You can't do that. You will have to first become US citizen before you can sponsor your parents green cards.
    2. Really nothing.
