  • Given / First name on family based greencard application

    Hi
I need some clarification on my situation.

I am sponsoring / applying for greencard for my parents. I understand that I have to submit birth certificates for my parents application. My father's first name is spelled different on my birth certificate from his Indian passport. How do I go about filing the I-130 form. Do I file with question 7 "Other Names Used (including maiden name)" or do I need to get any notarized certificate? Please advise.

I would suggest that your father get his name amended in the Indian passport. This will help in the longer run. If you want you can try making a notorised affidavit and submit it considering that the name of your father has minor mistake in comparison
