How late can i-130 be filed?

Hello,
I'm currently on my H1-B and I got married to a US citizen last week and I would like to apply for marriage based green card in the future. Is there a time frame within which the application has to be filed? Is it ok if we start the process after 6-7 months?

You can apply whenever you want.

Some people wait so the process is finished after being married for 2 years, that way they get a 10-year green card instead of a conditional 2-year green card.

Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021
