  • i864 question

My wife is filing an i130 for her parents, and we are currently filling out the i864 form.

All our bank accounts and taxes are joint accounts. Do I still need to fill out the i864a form?

Is your wife's income enough for the I-864? If not, then she needs a co-sponsor who fills an I-864a along with her. Remember in either case she must fill an I-864

      Got it. Thanks a lot.

One more question related to this.... We are also filing for my wife's brother. As I understand it, siblings files take longer to open, so should I fill out his i864 form now or should wait until his file opens.

      thanks

For your brother in law, you have to file an I-130. It takes a little over nine years, plus/minus (provided he is not from Mexico or Philippines). Make sure you document his wife and kids names also if any.
I-130 is the only form you need for him for the time being.
        Good Luck!
