Cancelled appointment never got automatically reschedule by consulate

I got an email last year in March:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Due to the enactment of a red alert by the President of Honduras prohibiting public and private events, the Immigrant Visa Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa has canceled appointments for the month of March 2020. The Immigrant Visa Unit will reach out to you by email when we have rescheduled your appointment.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding.

It has been over a year and my friend who just applied got interview for next month while I am still waiting. Anyone experience this? What is the best way to approach this

Hi,
Could you please try to connect with them and check the status? But normally, they will send an Email with rescheduled date and details. If nothing happened so far and if you feel that, it is out of processing time then you can call or Email to them for checking the status.

Can the petitioner email or does the beneficiary need to email? When they sent the initial email it was only sent to the beneficiary but not the petitioner
