  • I-130 approved. NVC Timeline

My I-130 for my husband was approved by USCIS California Service Center on 09/16/2010.

    Category F2A (I am a permanent resident)
    Priority Date March 26, 2010

According to the visa bulletin my PD will be current in October 2010 that means next month. My question is:

    1. How long does it take the file to be transferred from CSC to NVC?
    2. Once NVC receives the file who do they notify. The petitioner (me) or the beneficiary (my husband)?
    3. If everything goes well what is the shortest time we can expect NVC to complete the case and schedule an interview @ the designated consulate/embassy.
    4. Also what could be the longest time for NVC to complete processing.

    Any experiences will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

They will notify both the petitioner and the beneficiary at the addresses mentioned in the I-130

Once again, there are/is no time estimates. Everything depends on a case-by-case basis.

There is no guesstimates for any processing time other than listed on the website. Sorry I know this is not what you are expecting but it is the truth.

    Good luck.

we are in the same boat

      HI,
I read your post, and I want to tell you that I have the same situation. I also filed I-130 for my wife , and I am also a green-card holder. My application was also approved on September 16 2010. In fact, I received my approval letter yesterday. I don't know for sure what is going to happen next. But the letter states that they will notify the beneficiary and the petitioner. If the beneficiary doesn't get any correspondence within 90 day, there is a phone number to call on the approval notice. I believe it is the NVC number. I chat to my wife everyday, so she will tell me if she receives anything from them. But I will call this number regardless by the end of the week just to make an inquiry. I will post about the result of my conversation in this thread, to keep you informed. Please, let me also know if you get any updates from USCIS or NVC. I hope your case will be processed ASAP. I understand how tough is to be apart from your husband from my personal experience. So like I said, we are in the same boat)

Pulatik, I tried calling the NVC# yesterday to see if they received the file today. The number is constantly busy. I called this morning. The same story. so, I am thinking that it will not be possible to contact them via phone. So, next week I will e-mail them to see if they received my case.
        Wish you all the best.

          I called that number

          Hi,
I called that number yesterday and was lucky to get in touch with them. They made me wait for 30 mins. Finally, I talked to the operator. She told me that within 4-6 weeks, I should get some package from them. So I believe you should too. Let's wait for more updates. Good Luck.

if your priority date is current and you are in USA then you dont need to wait. you can apply for Adjustment of status right away. if they know that you are in USA, i dont think they are going to contact you.

I can't adjust status, because my wife is abroad. I have to go through consular processing. I have another question. Let's say my priority date has passed and not current anymore. Do I have to wait until it becomes current, or it is always current as long as it is before the current date???
