To the office of immigration,
I am a U.S. born citizen who is currently residing outside of the U.S. for study purposes. I have been living out of the U.S. for 5 years. I plan to come back to the U.S.A. to live in the State of Louisiana within a matter of months. My husband is a French citizen and we also have 1 child who was born in France (3 1/2 years of age). I would like to know:
What are the procedures we have to take in order for them to be admitted as permanent residence?
What type of forms should he fill out in obtaining a visa or green card?
Are there any application fees?
What steps should we take for our child? Does he have to apply for a visa or does he have nationality because I have American nationality?
Who do we contact while in Louisiana for a service center and information?
Do we need to translate any documents from French to English (marriage documents, birth certificates identification, etc...)?
Could you please inform me about any information or other specifics we would need in order to complete this process?
