Confused about the "What is your beneficiary's current marital status?" question.

I'm filling out the I-30 form and in the "Beneficiary's Family" there is this question:

What is your beneficiary's current marital status?

If your beneficiary is also your current spouse, answer the questions in the following section about yourself.

I look at the first part (the question) and it's clear the question is about my beneficiary. But then underneath it, that "IF" has me confused.

Does this ("If your beneficiary is also your current spouse")mean I don't have to answer this question since I'm applying for my mom?

I think what it means is that if the beneficiary is your spouse, the the beneficiary's spouse is you, and any questions about the beneficiary's spouse would be about you. In your case, it would be about your mom's marital status and your mom's current spouse.
