Marriage/Fiance Out of Status for 16yrs

I am seeking some help with an application that I will have to do.
I work for the catholic church and my fiancé entered the Us legally but is now out of status and has been for the last 16 years. I have another 4 years to wait before citizenship.

Would you be able to help us once we get married with an application for his green card. I am aware it will take a long time but would he be able to get a work permit.
He has worked and paid taxes for many years. Are those any merits. We also have a home together.

Please let me know if it is good to put in an application now and what that would get us. Please also let me know if you can help in this case.

If you are green card holder, you can't apply for fiance.

Once you get married, you can apply for his green card, but he will have to go out of the U.S. and apply for immigrant visa from his country. However, when he goes out, he will face 10 years bar to return to the U.S. If you were the U.S. citizen, the situation would be different.
