  • Administrative Pending after my CR1 Visa interview, Help needed

    Hello members

Yesturday i had my CR1 interview at the chennai counsulate in India. The interview went fine and as per the VO instructions i took up the oath, signed the DS 230, Part -II form and also had my finger prints taken. After this process the VO told me that the case looks good and asked me to take a seat. After sometime he called me up again and said that my case looked good but that he was going to put me under Administration Pending (AP ).

He handed over my original birth and marriage certificate but he took the passport and kept it with himself. He never said if my Visa was approved or denied. He told me that this process could take a months time and after that the passport would be couried back...now i am really confused as what has happened here..

He did't give me a blue or pink slip either..what does this mean ??

I already have a B1/B2 visa and have already been to the US 5 times and have always returned before my I-94 expiry. I have also been to 5 other countries on business. In total during the last 3 years i have made around 35 trips outside india.

I am really confused here and do not know why i was put under AP ? Has anyone been through this before if yes, pls could you tell me how long will it take for me to know about my visa..is the wait going to be very long......just curious.....

    Thanks

    Jango

From what I've heard AP is a security check and it takes about 4-6 weeks if I'm not mistaken.

        Jango,
Can you plese explain how long it took for you?
My husband too is in a similar situation.
He had his CR1 interview on Feb 14, 2011 and the interview went fine.
Since he is a chemical engineer by degree, the CO asked him about his research papers. He said he has couple of them and took out his papers to show her.But she said it is fine and looked over our wedding pics. Finally she said, 'I dont see any problem with your application, your visa is accepted and you get it within one week'.They took his passport.

2 days later on Feb 16, 2011 he received an email saying his case was put on AP and sent him a long questionnaire asking for his acdemic background, reserach publications, professional resume etc . he sent it in email to [email protected]

We are so worried about it, I was expecting him to come here by March first week. anybody know how long it will take?
Also, if they had any doubts about his case, why would they keep his passport? why wasnt he told then and there that his case is in AP?

Anybody heard of such experience? Please help.
Its been 2 yrs since we got married and staying apart

I had similar case. As my bachelor degree is in Chemical Engg and Masters in Biopharmaceuticals. They have held my case under AP.

I have not submitted documents yet but please any one can suggest me how long it takes.
Do they call your references or email?

Its been more than a year now and at this last moment, going through such things is pain.

Please let me know your experience, how did it go and how long it took

My friend has gone through the same thing at New Delhi, His case was put under AP after interview and signing of DS-230 II. It took exactly Four months (interview May 9, visa issued Sept 10) for the security check.
