  • Is it possible to change consulate/Embassy

    Hi,

I-130 for my husband was approved on 9/16/2010. My case is now in NVC. My priority date is current. My husband is from Pakistan, but currently working in Saudi Arabia. The NVC case# assigned starts with ISL. so looks like the case will go to the US consulate in Islamabad for the interview. We have not received any paperwork from NVC yet. I got the case # from the automated system. My question is that is it possible to change the consulate from Islamabad Pakistan to Ryiadh Saudi Arabia at this point. If any of you have been in the similar situation or have any idea please let me know. Your response will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Let me tell you that it is possible to change it but it will delay your case. Your husband will have to write to NVC to request the change. Also he shall need to provide proof of his legal status in Saudi like copy of work permit or something similar. It will take at least 8-10 weeks for NVC to get back to you with the confirmation of the change. Use this as a last resort.

Is there any particular reason why your husband will be unavailable to go for his interview in Pakistan?

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck.
