Visitor Visa expiration while concurrently filed GC applns in Initial Review stage

Hi,

My mom's visitor visa expires next week. I am a US citizen and we have concurrently filed Green Card forms I-130 & I-485. We received Receipt letters for both applns with receipt numbers. However, online case status for both applns is currently showing "Initial Review".
Couple of questions:
If we do not hear from uscis before next week,
1. will my mom be in illegal staus?
2. should i immediately apply for visitor visa extension?
Please let me know asap.

The Initial Review status might not change until later in the processing. As long as your I-485 was approved your mother is legally okay to stay in US until the case is cleared. But just for peace of mind you can apply for visitor visa extension and give the reason that I-485 is pending.

Need Clarification

My mom's I-94 expires next Tue Oct 26, 2010.
The GC applns (I-130 & I-485)were filed before I-94 expiration date. Is this reason not good enough for her to be in valid status after I-94 expires???
Regardless, should I go ahead and apply for visa extension asap or is it too late?

I did not receive any NOA for both of my mom's GC applns(I-130 & I-485). In light of this, should I still state "I485 is pending" as the reason for extension?

I would really appreciate a response from you as soon as possible.

Does receiving receipt numbers, one each for I-130 and I-485, automatically allow my mom to legally overstay the date on her I-94?

Or should we apply for visitor visa extension?
