Spousal GreenCard

Hi,

I am going to get married in India in November. My fiancee is a US citizen and I on H1B. I would like to apply for a spousal green card once we return back to the US. How will registering our marriage in India affect the green card application? We plan to register our marriage in the US immediately after coming to the US.

Any comments/suggestions are highly appreciated.

I would recommend that you get a marriage certificate from india since you are having the ceremony over in india. Also get 4-5 additional copies of your marriage certificate.

Thanks for your response. I guess, I didn't put forth my question properly. What I wanted to ask was: Would getting a certificate in India adversely affect the greencard application? Would it make a difference (good or bad) if we don't register in India and simply register here? My fiancee is paranoid that registering in India would somehow impede the greencard application here.
