Sponsor Wife For Greencard - Tax Filing Status Is Single - Advice?
Thank you in advance for the advice.
I am a US citizen, but have been an expat for the past 15 years.
I will be applying to sponsor my wife for a green card within the US.
My concern is that I had to file my taxes as single for awhile because it is impossible to file jointly online if my spouse doesn't have an SSN.
So I have been filing as single for the past five years.
Will this be a huge issue when applying to sponsor my wife?
Does this need to be sorted before applying?
Or is it something that can be adjusted while in the process of registering to sponsor my wife for a green card?
