1. Must a certified translation to english accompany a birth certificate printed in Spanish for an adjustment of status ? I know someone that did not translate it and received her green card in 4 months.


2. I have read about fluent people translating their own instead of engaging a "certified" translator? Can this be done?

Anyone can do it, provided that person has to mention in the translation contents that he or she is fluent in both the languages. I wouldn't do it for myself but would get someone else. The document need not to be notarized.
