I sponsored my brother and his children.
On the DS-230 Form Part I questions:
31a. asks "Person(s) named in 14 (that's me) and 29 (our son) who will accompany you to the United States now.
31b. Person(s)named in 14 (me) and 29 (our son) who will follow you to the United States at later date.
I put down my brother's children's name on question 31a.
Does it mean that his children must go with him to the US at the same time ?
In other words, if he goes to the US now, his children can't go to the US say 5 months later ?
I kind of remember talking to a lawyer that told me that question 31a. means "accompany" which means those persons need to be in the US <= 6 months after the principal applicant arrives in the US, and question 31b. means "follow to join" which means those persons will be in the US > 6 months after the principal applicant and will adjust status.
Is that correct ?
Thank you.
