  • Need some advice

I am getting married next year and have few questions because my fiance is Indian Citizen while me being U.S Citizen. I was born in India and lived there for many years. I know times have changed in India and still getting things done is something that is far away for many of us. Here are my questions...
    1. Few days after the wedding is over can i file for I-130 using valid
    documents in India?
    2. Will filing in India or U.S make any difference?
    3. How long does it take normally for her to receive immigrant visa before
traveling to U.S(just a rough estimate since i have to return for work few
    days after wedding)?
    4. Can i file for I-485 and other documents after she arrive in U.S?

There are way too many documents to fill out and it's very overwhelming. Thanks for your time and provide any suggestions.

Yes you can. Make sure you get your marriage registered and get marriage certificate.

As per word of mouth - If you file in India, the US Embassy will send all documents to the NVC in the USA to check and verify your documents. Then the NVC in USA will clear your file and send it back to US Embassy to issue your visa and perform medical exam. Also many of my friends have been in your situation and they have gone back to the USA and filed from USA which has taken 6-7 months for visa issuance

At least 6-7 months from the date your file is approved.

How do you propose that your wife comes to the USA so that you can file for the I-485

    Good luck
