  • Processing Green Card from India

    Dear Members,
I am US Citizen working in India (OCI), and want to start green card process for my wife (Indian Citizen). I have couple of questions,
    1. Now a days, how long it takes to get GC (Stage-wise) when processed from India (Mumbai).
    2. What documents are required in this case ?

This is completely irrelevant. There are no numerical limitations in the Immediate Relative category.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Hi Dash1006. I am in a somewhat similar situation and spoke to a few lawyers who told me to expect an i-130 processing time of 12-16 months.

The process is filing the petition (i-130) --> national visa center (NVC) processing --> consular interview of spouse

The i-130 is the longest stage, from what I understand.

Prior to the consular interview of your spouse, you will need to relocate to the US to demonstrate domicile in the US. I do not know for how long you would have to relocate back to the US. I would imagine that you would have to stay in the US until your spouse arrives and receives a Green Card. However, I do not know if moving back to India after that would have repercussions for naturalization.

On another note, I also have an OCI and wish to work in India. Would you mind if I PM'd you with a few questions?

We applied for my parents in Mar 22 and NVC is scheduled interview in September 2023. But things may be moving faster now.
