Hello! My parents have received approval for their GC petition, and NVC has contacted them to initiate the NVC process. However, my parents are not prepared to move forward with obtaining the GC at this point. They wish to delay the process for a year or more. I spoke with an assistant of an immigration attorney, and they mentioned that it is possible to postpone the NVC process for up to a year+. I just need to keep them(NVC) informed on a yearly basis. Could you please confirm if this information is correct? I noticed that I could submit an inquiry on NVC. Would it be appropriate to inform them of my parent's decision to postpone the process for now? I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

I would like to contact NVC to keep my immigrant case active.- To keep your case active, do not let more than one year pass without contacting NVC. To do so, you can submit fees and/or documents through the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC), https://ceac.state.gov/iv. Each time you access your case in CEAC, your contact date will be updated. If one year passes from the last date of contact with NVC, all submitted fees, forms and documents will expire, and your case will begin the pre-termination process.
- You do not need to contact NVC to keep your case active if you have received notification your case is documentarily complete.

Greetings! Thank you for your response. After reviewing the NVC FAQ on keeping my case active, I noticed that a payment is required. However, their FAQ also mentions the option to submit fees and/or documents, indicating that document upload without payment is possible. Unfortunately, I am only presented with a payment option. Am I missing something? Alternatively, should I send an inquiry requesting to keep my case active? I am concerned that this may lead to further confusion and potentially incorrect advice. What are your thoughts on the matter?
