I130 filed for my father, do I need to file for AOS/I1485 together?

Hello,
I filed for my father's I130 - Family based GC Application in July. One of my friends is saying I should have also applied for I1485 together. Can I file for it now? Also should I also apply for Medical along with I1485?

Is your father in the US? Did he enter legally?
