  • I-485 Birth Certificate question

    hi All,

Right now i am in the middle of Green card (Family based) process.

My birth place in passport is different than Birth certificate. Many people says birth place correcting in passport is very complex process, because indian consulates need a court order from india.

So i am planning to get a birth certificate from nearest Indian consulate. Can i submit BC from indian consulate for USCIS I-485 process? I have school certificate with same birth place of Passport. Do i need to get any other documents?

    Please advice me.

    Thank you
    Jefy

BC from Indian consulate is NOT acceptable by USCIS. You are better getting a affidavit from India stating that the person named in passport and birth certificate are same. School leaving certificate can be added in your application but that is secondary evidence.

    Good luck.
