Waiting for I-485 for wife, what to do?

Hi,

We got married after I got the GC. I have 2 years to go before being able to apply for naturalization.

She has 8 months to go on her H-1B, and the PD for I-485 is Jan 2008.

What are our options? I'm thinking to let her stay in the US illegally, stop working and take care of our newborn (who's a US citizen obviously).

You can let her stay illegally and hope that she don't get into any kind of trouble with the law.
Once you become a citizen, her out of status time period will be forgiven.
You can also apply for now and once you become a citizen, your petition will be upgraded.
