Hello,

My spouse had his appointment in Delhi on November 29th and is still waiting to get his passport and visa back from VFS. What can I do from the U.S. to help understand what is going on? What can he do? Is there any way to schedule another appointment with the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi?

This is a tricky question.... In short I would say that you case has triggered some hit against their name database where they need to confirm that you husband is not that questionable character who persists on the database.

This is currently a very slow process.... many people are waiting with absolutly no communication.

I would suggest that you write a letter to the consulate to find out whats going on... You cannot apply to another consulate and they are specfic question that will ask you if you have applied before and you cannot lie.

Also if its a case of a mistaken identity, what the gurantee it will not occur when Delhi searches the Database again.... so write to them a demand a response... if it takes too long visit the local congress representative / senetor and get them to write.. may help.
