  • How does being Mexican affects the waiting tiem in the F2A category?

    Hi,

I have two daughters. One is 16 yrs old and the other one is 18 years old. They live in Mexico. I am a LPR. Please help me understand what does it mean to be exempt from per-country limit. It sounds like it is a good thing but I am not exactly sure if it is. If I send the I-130 for both of my children today 1/12/2011, approximately when will they be able to become LPRs? Is it likely that they will be moved to the F2B because they reach 21?

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me understand the process in more simple words because I find the official visa bulleting language very difficult to discern.

    Thank you

    What does exempt per-country limit.?
Tis means that a specfic country does not have any specfic number of immigration numbers assigned to them. In simple terms the US immigration tries to control the number of immigrants so that there is an amicable mix to immigrats from all over the world.

If a lot more people seem to originate from one country they put curbs or limits that is what is called the pre-country limit. When peole more than the limit apply then its called oversubscribed & when those who apply have to wait then its called retrogression where people who apply now need to wait for 20 years in the queue to get in as an immigrant.

They fall under categories and certain categories have more applicants than other and the waiting is more... these effects those who are over 21 and also those who are not you immidiate family but your brother / sister etc. Parents are not subject to the limits.
