  • Travel during GC process

I am sure this question was asked before, but I could not find the answer. So please help!

I am US citizen and applied for GC for my mother who currently has a 10-year multiple entry visa. Recently, her I-130 was cleared and they asked for some additional certificates. While we respond to these queries, can she travel to US again for visit for 3-6 months while her GC is in progress? Are there any any restrictions. BTW, in the original application we had mentioned that she is in India and her GC should be delivered there.

    Please advise.

She can always go out of the US.

The question is whether she would like to come back while her green card is in the process.

If yes, she must have I-485 and advance parole filed and she can return on advance parole.

If no, she would have to go through consular processing in the home country and can enter the U.S. on an immigrant visa.

      Clarification

      Thanks for responding Administrator.

To clarify - she is currently in India and possesses a 10-year multiple entry visitor visa. My question is - given the status of her Green Card can she safely travel to US on her current visitor visa? Will she have any questions/issues at the time of immigration on arrival?
