  • Visa Bulletin question

    Guys

I recently checked for last three month visa bulletin and notice some discrepancy. According the recent last three month visa bulletin published. It didn't change from Jan 00 but when you check December 2010 bulletin it will shows Jan 02. I don't understand how could be this difference? It seems they don't realize their mistake and still carry what they started from beginning. Does anybody have comments?

    Thanks in advance

The following will answer your question

        "Visa Retrogression

Sometimes, a priority date that is current one month will not be current the next month. This is called visa retrogression, which occurs when more people apply for a visa in a particular category than there are visas available for that month. Visa retrogression most often occurs when the annual limit has been reached. When the new fiscal year begins on October 1, a new supply of visa numbers is available and usually, but not always, brings back the dates to where they were before retrogression."

I can't understand why The Visa Bulletine gives list of cut-off dates for specific countries like India, Mexico and etc. and gives worldwide (non-oversubscribed countries).

Does it mean that visa number availability for each country varies and this date is average?

Visa number availability is the same for each country. However, the people seeking those visas from these oversubscribed countries are significantly higher than the supply which creates the back log and the Priority date queue. Need to do more reading on this subject if you wish to educate yourself on it.

I noticed this too. Despite the explanations about retrogression in the thread, I still don't understand how the priority cut-off dates published in the visa bulletin can go backwards. Surely the cut-off date published in the visa bulletin implies that all the petitions up to that date have been processed? I can understand the cut-off date failing to move forward if there are too many petitions for the number of spaces, but how can it go back 18 months (I'm referring to family 3rd category where the cut-off date was June 02 in Dec 10 VB, but went back to Jan 01 in the Jan-March 2011 VBs). Hoping for some enlightenment....
Incidentally, I emailed the answering service which NVC seems to provide these days for questions. I tried twice - but each time received a stock answer completely unrelated to my question. I'm very happy that I stumbled upon this web site.
