  • Not sure if I could apply for a greencard, needing some advice/help

    Hello there! I am in need for some guidance otherwise advice on what to do in my very rare and specific case.

    The deal is the following;

    My dad lived in Washington D.C. for a long, long while but he was from Uruguay, he was thus a Greencard holder I assume. He passed before I was born. He has a brother (my uncle) whom is alive and also is a greencard holder who married an US citizen, later bearing two children together(cousins).

    He also has a sister (my aunt) currently living in Miami whom is a greencard holder/US citizen (unsure of her status) whom has a son in the Air Force(cousin), thus meaning they are US citizens otherwise he could have not joined the Army and Airforce.

    I also have on my mother's side over 6 cousins, grand-uncle/aunts and aunts. From my mother's side everyone is either American (us citizens, born in the US) and Europeans (mainly from Spain).

    I don't have sisters, uncles, aunts, gramps or any sort of family in my home land (Argentina) and I don't have a mother either.

    I am 18 and not 21 so most laws for certain types of "child protection" still apply to me. I work and I support myself but it's barely enough, my family in the US tries to help me any way possible (be it monetary wise or moral support).

    My family in the US are fine as far as their economy goes and they are (most of them) US citizens.

    For further info, my mother was never denied a VISA, nor was I, I had a tourist visa once (it expired, obv) and, if it matters, I speak English and not Spanish. I don't have criminal records/drug abuse records/nor HIV or anything of the sort. My bank accounts are well balanced and my mother never had financial issues either with her cards.

    For further information, my mother left no money/assets or anything of that sort when she left so there's nothing for me to cling on, I basically am living a day-by-day situation and working insane working times (little over 10 hours a day 6 days/week) and if I were to stop doing this I wouldn't be able to support myself financially or even eat, for that matter, so this is also troubling my schooling since I can't study or do anything towards working on my future path since I am out over 12 hours a day (working time plus traveling time).

    Is there any possibility I could apply for an immigrant VISA to be with my family in the US (whom are blood related and legally related to me)? They've already agreed to sponsor me, be it the case anything could be done about this matter.

    If anyone could advice me further it'll be much appreciated.

    Thanks beforehand.

    Your uncle or your aunt could look into adopting you thereby paving your way to entry in USA. I'm not sure about the immigrant visa but for the best advice or option available it would be better to speak to reputed immigration lawyer/s for your specific case.

    As far as your cousins go, they can maybe at a later stage provide financial support for your immigrant visa but until such time they are not needed that much.

    Good luck.

      I thought I couldn't be adopted since I am already 18, or am I wrong then? In my country 18 is the legal age of concent, I can drive, drink, etc legally.
