Marriage to a permanent resident

Hi!

I would just like to ask for your help. My fiance is a tourist visa holder and will expire on January,2012. I am an immigrant visa holder and i will receive my green card soon. If I marry my fiance, would his status change into a green card holder as well? What can you advice so that i can change his status into a green card holder as soon as possible?

It is possible. On what basis are you getting the green card? Have you filed for adjustment of status? Is your priority date current? When are you planning to marry him?

Thank you for replying so soon. I am an immigrant visa holder and my green card will be sent to me within a week. I have not yet filed for adjustment of status. Not yet decided as to when i would marry him. That is why i am asking for advice. Once i receive my green card, and I am an immigrant/green card holder/ permanent resident and he is a tourist visa holder. If i marry him, would the marriage change his status into an immigrant or permanent resident as well? What legal actions can you advice to make him a permanent resident as soon as possible?

You said that you are an immigrant visa holder. Have you already traveled to the U.S. on an immigrant visa?

Yes, I am now here in Texas. Because this is where my greencard will be sent. I just arrived here 2 weeks ago.
