Administrative processing after IV interview

My husband was interviewed on February 14, 2011 for his CR1/IR immigrant visa. He was verbally told that hs visa is approved and they took his passport indicating expect his visa in a week.
Two days later they sent an email asking for additional details regarding his professional career, resume, publications etc. He is an MS degree holder in material science engineering.Also the document with all these questionnaire was titled SAO , which I suppose is Security Clearance Opion. They said it could take upto 45 days to finish AP and is awaiting clearance from Dept. Of State.

I dont think his name is a problem, as he has a christian name from kerala.
anybody gone through such a situation?
Also, how long did it take to clear AP in chennai?

Please, any insights would be appreciated.

They need clearance because of his degree in a specific field.

You will have to just provide the documents that they are asking for and wait to hear from them.

did your husband get the visa already.i was in the same boat in dec 2010,they placed my husband on adm processing after his IR1 interview because of his profession.it took exactly 5 weeks and 2 days for them to clear him and issue the visa.i kept calling them in DOS WASHINGTON.and they won't even tell you when they issue it ,they will courior you passport
