    I have a question about a few documents that are supplied to you in local Indian language.
    I know we should translate those (with all accuracy) in English.
    But should this translation be

    Notarized by a notary
    or
    Just self certification is ok?

    This question is due to the fact that the instructions are different on NVC website v/s when you go to Consulate related requirements.
    NVC says, a translator's statement is necessary.
    The Mumbai consulate document says notarization.

    Please help.

    When you submit the documents to USCIS, no notary is required for translation.

    However, when you submit the documents to the consulate, notary is required.

      Thanks.

      I am submitting the documents to NVC in USA. They will in turn send it to consulate at the time of interview.

      So, is it safe to assume that I can send the translated documents w/o notarization (and with just a statement that the translation is accurate) to NVC?
