H1b to GC (Marrying USC) then University

Hi!
So heres the gig. I am planning to marry my GF soon (USCitizen - been dating 4 years and know eachother since middleschool). I am on H1B.
*How long before I get EAD?
*I plan to join MBA in August 2011. Do I qualify for FAFSA or Private loans on EAD? I already have ss# as I am on H1B.
*I am in US already so I suppose I would need an AOS?
*Anything I need to keep in mind?

What is the exact process and tentative time-line for this kind of a case?

Once you are married, you can file I-130, I-485 (AOS) and application for EAD (they can all be filed together). You will get EAD in about 2-3 months.

Don't you think admissions for fall 2011 are already closed? Did you already take the qualifying tests and everything?

You qualify for any kind of financial aid (FAFSA) only after your greencard is approved. Having EAD doesn't qualify you for financial aid. But you can take private loans, which are usually of high interest rate.

So, realistically, you are looking at going for MBA in fall of 2012 and to qualify for any financial aid, your greencard must be approved before March/Apr 2012. That's possible provided you get married soon.

Congrats!! But forget about financial aid this year. If you get your green card before the FAFSA deadline next year, you will be eligible to apply.
