cancelling an immigration petition?

Can an immigration petition be cancelled?? If yes, what is the procedure?

We are planning to apply for a visitor visa as a family with a petition approved for my mother. I have heard that VO will ask us why dont we cancel a petition? What are we supposed to answer for that??

please dont take extreme measures like cancelling the immigrant petition. You can still apply for a visitor visa. All you need to show is that you would return back after a temporary visit.
Dont cancel the petition unless you are not planning to settle in US in future.

Cancel family based petition

Who told you if any petition already in process for you will not get visit visa.
This is not true at all. I got B1/B2 visa in 1998 when my petition was also under process. So do not make yourself fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know immigration petition does not mean you dont get visa..however VO askd one of my cousins with petition who was applying for a visa that why doesnt he cancel his petition..so i just wanted to knw the process so i can answer accordingly when VO askd me similar question
