Police Clearence Certificate (PCC) from India
Hi everyone,
I have a question in regards to obtaining a PCC for my mother. I am a US citizen and have applied for an immigrant visa for her come to the US. Our lawyer working on her immigrant visa application is asking for a PCC. (From 1955 through 1965, i.e. the time she spent in India from the age of 16 through time of marriage).
The question is, can she obtain a PCC (is it available) even though she is NOT an Indian Citizen and is NOT residing in India, since 1965?
From the instructions per the Department of State and the charts posted per the immi website, we think NO, because 1) she is not a citizen of India and 2) is applying o/s of India.
Is our attorney wasting my mothers time by insisting she get a PCC in hand.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here are some details/fact pattern:
1) She was born in India on 1939, resided there until she got married in 1965
2) Once married she moved to Uganda in 1965,
3) Then my parents moved to the United Kingdom in 1972 till present
4) She is a citizen and passport holder of the United Kingdom/British Passport
