Affidavit of Support/Child Care Benefits

My husband and I are about to begin the process of applying for his status change from Visitor to Permanent Resident via marriage. I am a US Citizen, and he is British. I have a child from my prior marriage who attends day care via the Subsidized Child Care Program, which IS a ‘means-tested benefit’. My concern is that, when I file the Affidavit of Support, my husband will then be considered a recipient of benefits, since he will now have to be counted to calculate household size. Am I correct in assuming this, and would I then be required to pay back the value of this child care since my husband, as a resident, would be a member of a household which receives a public benefit?!
