  • Birth Certificate

    Hello All,
Thanks for reading my question. I'm applying for GC-Family based (married to US citizen). I was born in India and my birth certificate does not shows my name. but it does shows my father's full name and mother's first name. It also shows my time & date of birth.
Will it work as a document for birth certificate.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Harry

How did this happen? Your name is the MOST IMPORTANT data in the BC. You need to apply for a corrected BC from the civil registrar that issued your BC and let them put your name in it. From where did you get the name you are currently using ?

mtouch, it is (at least it used to be) very common in India to have no name birth certificate as the child's name was kept much later and not at birth time.

Really? This is the first time I heard about such a custom. Hmmm interesting but not favorable for someone who needs the name in the BC.
